How CS Clipdle and CS Top Ten work, and what happens to your data. The games need JavaScript to play - enable it and reload.
The basics
What is CS Clipdle?
CS Clipdle is a free daily guessing game built around professional Counter-Strike. Each day there is one blurred match clip, and you have five tries to name the player in it along with their team, the year and the map.
A second mode, CS Top Ten, gives you a ten-place Counter-Strike list to fill in from memory. Both reset every day, and there are no accounts and no ads.
Is CS Clipdle free, and do I need an account?
CS Clipdle is free and there is no account to create. Nothing is behind a login, there are no ads and no affiliate links.
Your progress, your streak and your settings live in your own browser rather than on a server.
Does CS Clipdle work on mobile?
Yes. It is the same website rather than an app, laid out to fit a phone screen, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.
Progress is stored per browser, so playing on your phone and on your desktop gives you two separate streaks.
When does a new puzzle come out?
Every mode rolls over at 00:00 UTC. That is the same instant worldwide, so the puzzle you are playing is the one everyone else is playing, whatever your timezone.
Because the day is fixed to UTC rather than your local clock, the changeover can land mid-evening or mid-morning depending on where you are.
Playing CS Clipdle
How do you play CS Clipdle?
You watch a heavily blurred clip from a professional Counter-Strike match and name four things about it: the player, their team, the year and the map. Each one is a searchable dropdown rather than a text box, so spelling never counts against you.
You get five guesses. A guess submits all four columns at once, and every guess you spend sharpens the clip a little further.
What do the colours mean after a guess?
Green means that column is correct and locked in for the rest of the round, so you do not have to enter it again. Red means wrong - try something else.
Amber appears in the year column only. It means you are in the right era but not on the exact year, so nudge it up or down. An amber year does not lock, because a close year is still a wrong one and locking it would freeze you onto an answer you cannot correct.
Does the clip ever become fully clear?
Not while you are still playing. The blur drops with each of your five guesses, but even the fifth and clearest stage keeps a little of it.
The clip only plays completely unblurred once the round is over, on the endgame replay.
Which years can a clip be from?
Clips run from 2012 to the present, so the year column covers the whole of CS:GO and CS2.
Where do the clips come from?
Every clip is a YouTube embed of a professional match VOD, usually from the event organiser’s own channel. The footage is never re-hosted - it plays from YouTube throughout, with the blur applied over the top.
Clips remain the property of their respective owners. CS Clipdle is not affiliated with Valve Corporation.
Playing CS Top Ten
What is CS Top Ten?
CS Top Ten is the second daily mode: a ten-place Counter-Strike list - players, teams, maps or weapons - that you fill in from memory.
Search a name and pick it, and a correct answer drops straight into its own rank. You never have to work down the list in order.
Do wrong guesses cost anything in CS Top Ten?
No. CS Top Ten has no lives and no timer, so you can guess as often as you like.
If you run dry you can give up at any point and see the entries you missed.
What does Reveal Nationalities do?
On boards made up of players, switching on Reveal Nationalities puts a flag against every rank, including the ones you have not found yet.
It is free, it does not change your result, and you can switch it back off whenever you like.
Archive, streaks and sharing
Can I play previous puzzles?
Yes. Both modes have an archive you can open from the calendar, and every past day has its own link - csclipdle.com/?day=32 for CS Clipdle, csclipdle.com/top-ten?day=32 for CS Top Ten.
The calendar marks each day as won, lost, started or unplayed, so the ones you walked away from are easy to find again. Day numbers are tied to the calendar rather than to a position in a list, so a link you share today still opens the same puzzle in a year.
How do I share my result without spoiling it?
Copy Result puts an emoji grid on your clipboard and never a name. A CS Clipdle result reads "CS Clipdle #32 (3/5)" followed by one row per guess - four squares covering player, team, year and map. A CS Top Ten result reads "CS Top Ten #29 - 7/10" followed by ten squares, one per rank.
Neither carries the answers, so anyone you send it to can still play the same puzzle cold. The Top Ten grid leaves out how many wrong guesses you made on purpose, because that mode is penalty-free.
Does CS Clipdle track a streak?
Yes, and it lives in your browser rather than on a server. Today’s progress, your streak, whether you have seen the How to Play screens and your sound preference are all stored locally.
Clearing your browser storage clears all of it, including the streak.
What data does CS Clipdle store about me?
There are no accounts, so nothing stored identifies you personally. When you submit your first guess the site creates a random device ID so it can count how many people come back day to day, alongside which mode and puzzle you played and how it went.
You can switch that off, and the game works exactly the same with it off.

Events
What is the CS:GO Birthday event?
CS:GO Birthday is a seven-day event marking the anniversary of CS:GO’s launch on 21 August 2012. Each day of the event carries three iconic clips instead of one, and each clip asks for the map, the player and the year - nine points a day.
The boards stay playable once the event is over.
